Getting Ready

It's best to obtain a building permit before beginning a remodel. This is usually an over-the-counter process in a simple remodel that does not involve increasing the building envelope or significant structural changes.

Before Demo
It is also advisable to have built-in items like tubs and shower valves on hand or at least readily available before beginning demolition.

We like to have a pre construction meeting to plan out a route in and out of the room for the demolition debris and the construction materials and personnel. We like to layout a site on the property for job debris and material storage . We need to know where the electrical panel , hot water tank and main water shut-off are located. We also need to arrange a location for a on site portable toilet if another bathroom in the home is not available for use by remodeling personnel. We need to know about family pets and if the house telephone is available for our use. We will also want to know if you'll want to keep any of the fixtures and cabinets and where you would like us to store them for you.

Some preparation by the homeowner is necessary before the remodeling crew arrives. All personal effects, towels, and toiletries should be removed from the bathroom to be remodeled. it's also a good idea to take down any pictures hanging on walls adjacent to the bathroom. When we come, we'll bring drop cloths and cover the floor through the house from the bathroom to the outside. We'll also cover major furniture in any rooms adjacent to the remodeling site that we have to walk through.
